Silly Hat Melbourne Cup Lunch
Story
Join us to make a difference this Melbourn Cup Day - Tuesday 6th November 2018!
You dont have to run or take on a physical challenge to be involved - host a 'Silly Hat' Melbourne Cup Lunch and raise funds as part of the #sillyhatformatt challenge toward stomach cancer research.
What you need to do next?
Step 1
Join the #sillyhatformatt team by registering HERE - http://bit.ly/2LgsW3F
Step 2
Set up your own fundraising page via - http://sillyhatformattchallenge.gofundraise.com.au/pages/create?tid=581266 - and ask your guests to make a donation - perhaps requesting an additional donation as a penalty for anyone who attends without a 'silly hat'!
All donations over $2 made through your fundraising page are automatically issued a tax deductible receipt - so this is the easiest way! If you need advice, however, on how to lodge any cash or cheque donations please email info@gicancer.org.au
Step 3
Share your lunch photos via our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/sillyhatformattchallenge/ on the day!
Why 'Silly Hats'?
This challenge is in memory of Matt who was diagnosed with a rare type of stomach cancer (linitis plastica) in 2012 but who sadly passed away aged just 40 years old, leaving behind a young family.
Matt was young, fit and healthy and there was no family history of the disease.
He was also young at heart and loved wearing a silly hat at any and every opportunity. All kids ... and many adults .. love a silly hat - they just need an excuse to wear one!
So what better time to don a silly hat than when you may have already planned to do so - Melbourne Cup!
By taking part in this challenge you are helping draw attention to a cancer where early diagnosis is unlikely, and where there are very limited treatment options. Your support will help raise much needed funds for stomach cancer research to develop new treatments and improve the outcomes for those diagnosed in future.
Thanks so much for your support!
