Mott Family
Story
Hi there!
Our family is taking part in the #sillyhatformatt challenge to fundraise in support of stomach cancer research. First stop - Stadium Stomp on July 22nd, 2018 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for Nick, Diana and Sabrina - a mere 1900 stairs for a leisurely afternoon...
The challenge is in memory of our friend, Matt, who was diagnosed with a rare type of stomach cancer (linitis plastica) in 2012 but who sadly passed away aged just 40 years old. He left behind a young family with kids similar age to our own.
Nick and Matt were good friends for more than 20 years and he is very much missed. Matt was young, fit and healthy and there was no family history of the disease.
By taking part in this challenge we want to draw attention to a cancer which has a survival rate of less than 10%. Currently there is no early diagnosis and very limited treatment options - but hopefully with some great fundraising for stomach cancer research, new treatments can be found and we can improve the outcomes for those diagnosed in the future.
And the silly hats? Matt loved hats. Whatever the celebration - a cards night, a birthday or just a get-together, the silly hats came out…It’s a great and fun way to remember him by.
So, please support our efforts by making a secure online donation and by optionally posting a message of support. Just give up a coffee or two, or a drink at the pub to make a difference.
Donations made through this platform will be remitted directly through to the GI Cancer Institute and designated specifically to stomach cancer research. No middle man. And for Aussies - donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Thanks so much for your support!'
Nick, Diana, Sabrina and Carson
